Can you contribute to public confidence in the Council?

We are looking for a new Independent Member to join our Audit Committee.

This Committee reviews the effectiveness of our governance and risk management arrangements.

As an Independent, non-voting Member on the Committee, you will serve an important purpose bringing independent scrutiny to the Committee’s work.

Applicants will need to show that they have the skills and experience in one or more of the following: local government, governance, audit, finance, risk management, internal control, with a connection to the Sevenoaks District, typically through living or working there. You will be expected to attend probably four committee meetings each year.

Prospective candidates should have a high level of integrity, the ability to work as part of a team, be objective, independent, and impartial, and have good analytical, communication and interpersonal skills.

To ensure independence, the posts are not open to anyone who is, or has within the last five years, been a Sevenoaks District Councillor or member of staff and their close relatives or friends.

An allowance of £800 per annum will be paid to the post holder plus expenses and the appointment will be for up to 4 years.
