Vacancy Details
Benefits Assistant
Sevenoaks District Council is recognised as one of the best places to work in the UK, having recently retained our Platinum accreditation under Investors in People. We are the only financially self-sufficient Council in the country and have an ambitious agenda to do more for our communities.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated person to join our busy Benefits service based in Sevenoaks. We administer over 12,000 housing benefit (HB) and council tax reduction (CTR) customers in a joint partnership between Dartford Borough Council and Sevenoaks District Council.
You will ideally have current experience of working within a benefits environment, calculating and assessing HB/CTR change in circumstances. However, we will consider applicants that don’t have this knowledge but do have current experience of general office work and have good numeracy skills.
You will also want to be part of a dedicated team who provides first class customer service and your approach must be flexible as well as appreciating the importance of working both as part of that team and being able to work on your own initiative.
You will accurately assess HB/CTR change in circumstances and also give information and advice to customers in our Benefit Reception on related enquiries.
Your experience will ideally include use of the Academy Benefits system and document management systems. You will have a good standard of education and be computer literate.
Please note that the successful candidate will be subject to a Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check.
If you would like more information or have an informal discussion about the position, please call Heather Gaynor on 01732 227435 or Joella Preston on 01732 227063.
Interview Date - 15th July 2019
