We are looking for a Senior Principal Accountant, who would assist in driving forward a programme of service improvements and high performance levels.
The post holder will report into the Head of Finance and sits within the finance team of 10.64 FTEs and responsible for managing 3.0 FTEs.
The ideal candidate will hold a Professional accountancy qualification CCAB (ideally CIPFA) or CIMA and must have post qualification experience in local government – preferably at district level – as they will be expected to hit the ground running. It is a key role within the department; the successful candidate will ambitious, talented and committed to deliver exceptional service to our Customers.
Applicants must have proven track record of experience of high-level relationships with senior officers, members and outside organisations. The successful candidate will have a detailed knowledge of computer based financial management systems and software applications, as well as knowledge of legislative codes of practice pertaining to Local Government Finance.
The post holder will play a key role in the final accounts process, including group accounts, as well as taking responsibility for supporting two major service areas, which include several large shared service arrangements and a trading operation. In addition, they will provide input to corporate finance functions including leading on the budget preparation and capital programme.
